my story
I was a bright kid, a really bright kid. But I was also a frail outcast because of asthma. Your quintessential nerd kid. I couldn't play sports so my entire sense of self-worth came from my academic achievement. But the education system only prepares you for more school, and the more complicated life got, the less I felt like I had any control over my life.
I love nature and the environment. I've always been curious about why some plants grew in one place, and not others. I was destined to become an ecologist, and followed science with passion throughout school.
I battled with existential questions from an early age. Then I became disillusioned with the education system when it couldn't deliver on what it seemed to promise - a method to achieve your dreams.
I had a great family. We started poor, but I was able to pursue higher education. No matter how good your family is, sometimes you miss some fundamental lessons. Near the end of my undergrad a combination of stress, environmental grief and unresolved conflicts in my belief systems completely crushed me.
I almost dropped out of school but instead managed to just barely finish. I've gone through several major depression episodes. I know how it can be. I had essentially given up hope for my desire to help save the world.
This lack of belief in a decent future sent me deeper into emotional despair.
I hit rock bottom and stayed there for too long. I got sick and tired of being sick and tired.
I was angry at all the crap dumped on me from depression and a broken world. I resolved to face all of my problems - whether they came from within our outside.

I drew on years of experience in science, experimental design, and research to dig into all the relevant fields of psychology - from both online sources widely available, as well as into the primary research it was all based upon. I've learned from all the leading writings on motivation, productivity and counselling.
I found the most recommended techniques. I found the most reliably-supported theories. I took the psychology research and the practical advice and synthesized it all together. So many possibilities for good work out there: mindfulness, cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, motivational interviewing, etc.
I worked with therapists, counsellors and coaches - I learned their approaches alongside the fundamentals behind it. I applied myself, challenged myself and faced all the types of self-deception possible. I was a difficult case. My best therapist said I made her have to work extra hard to keep up with my rate of personal development.

There's a tonne of self-help books, blogs, info graphics, tips, everything. If you want to do this change yourself, it is possible. But there's just too much for anyone to consume it all. I took the long road trying to do it all myself. And I'll tell you what I learned, and what works for other clients like you. You don't have to do the research alone.
There's so much material, but real change takes more than information.
It takes discipline, drive and the desire to do it.
But most importantly, it takes the belief that change is possible.
It comes down to simple, small changes about your patterns of thinking and action, progressing at any pace, which brings lasting happiness and energy in life. You don't have to change who you are or what you believe in, but you might have to get real about whether your moment-to-moment actions are in alignment with what you truly value.
I will eventually post many of my ideas to my blog, my Facebook page and my ebook drafts. Right now I'm focusing on spending time with clients and refining the systems to make the maximum impact.
The advantage of a coach is profiting from the experience of someone who has already walked the difficult path, found the methods that made it easier, and went even further to see if everyone is having the same problems.
You can do it also.
